Gainesville schools chief gets contract extension
By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Board of Education has okayed a three-year contract extension for Schools Superintendent Steven Ballowe.
Board chairman Frank Harben says the $159,000-a-year contract includes a raise - something Dr. Ballowe did not get last year.
It includes $10,000 in deferred compensation and standard beneifits, such as health and vision insurance.
Harben says Dr. Ballowe has earned the contract extension and raise through three consecutive "outstanding evaluations."
He has been school superintendent in Gainesville for three years.
