EAGAN, Minn. - Northwest Airlines is telling some employees that their jobs will move to Atlanta as part of a merger with Delta Air Lines.

The Star Tribune of Minneapolis reports that the carrier has told some workers that Delta will close a Twin Cities facility and move up to 400 jobs starting in 2010.

The company has reiterated that its frontline employees, including flight dispatchers and meteorologists, will keep their jobs.

Northwest's System Operations Control center in the Twin Cities has 165 dispatchers, 47 load agents and 20 meteorologists. Another 300 or so perform roles in general systems operations and techincal operations and maintenance control.

The Delta-Northwest merger still has to be approved by regulators.
