GAINESVILLE - A juvenile has been arrested by Gainesville police after he tried to retrieve his wrecked car which he had abandoned after an accident Sunday afternoon
Lt. Brian Kelly said the suspect was arrested several hours after the accident when he went to the wrecker service where the car had been towed. The accident happened about 4:30 near the Thompson Bridge Road/Enota Avenue intersection.
"He admitted to driving the car and he was placed under arrest for Hit And Run and Violation of Learner’s Permit," Lt. Kelly said, "and released back into the custody of his guardians with a hearing pending in Juvenile court at a later date."
The suspect's car hit and damaged a fence in front of M & R Rental Sales.
Kelly said there was one other person in the car, "a female passenger."
