Local power supplier reaches milestone

JEFFERSON - Jackson EMC reaches a milestone: adding its 200,000th meter.
Public Relations Director Bonnie Jones said it took the electric Co-Op 55 years to reach 100,000 meters, but only 13 years to double in size.
"We have got some tremendous growth going on now," Jones said. "Coming out of Gwinnett County into Jackson and Barrow County."
Jackson EMC has member-consumers in Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Madison and Oglethorpe counties.
